List window: Default button options

The default button in the list window appears just above the list columns, on the right side. It can perform several different functions. The default button action also is also the action taken when double-clicking items in a list. You can change the default button action using the menu, or by Control-clicking on the default button and choosing one of the options in the section of the menu.

Help

Open the help in Help Viewer to the page describing the default action button.

Get Info

Open a File Buddy Info window for the selected items in the list.

Finder Info

Open one Finder Info window for each item selected in the list.

Group Info

Show a window containing total count and size information for the selected items in the list.

New Viewer

Open a File Viewer™ for the selected list item. The default button is disabled when multiple items are selected.

Show

Open each selected list item's containing folder in the Finder.

Open

Open each selected list item as if it were double-clicked in the Finder.

Copy

Ask for a destination folder and copy all the selected list items into that folder.

Move

Ask for a destination folder and move all the selected list items into that folder.

Make Alias

Open an alias creation window for the selected list items.

Edit Name

Put the currently selected item’s name into editing mode.
